737 – Sanna Vesikansa

A City for Everyone – Running for the Helsinki City Council in April 2017 Elections

About me:

  • Member of the City Board in 2015-2017
  • Greens representative in the City Council from northern Helsinki since 2009
  • Chair of the Early Education and Care Committee in 2013-2015
  • Master of Social Sciences, advisor at Save the Children Finland
  • 44-year-old mother of three children between the ages of 10 and 15, lives on the border between Pakila and Pirkkola

As a member of the City Council and a candidate in the 2017 Municipal Elections, it is important to me that:

  • we do not increase the group sizes in early education or restrict families’ right to day care
  • our schools and day care centres offer high-quality care, teaching and education
  • first- and second-year pupils can learn a second language and have access to after-school activities
  • we speed up the renovation of our school buildings
  • we improve home care for the elderly
  • our suburbs remain vibrant, public transport is efficient and we have nature on our doorstep
  • we look after everyone in Helsinki and, for example, arrange emergency accommodation for undocumented immigrants
